Arch. Marcos de Guzman, jr


Marcos Ramirez de Guzman Jr. is the Managing Partner of Architecture Network. His firm specializes in multi-residential housing development and facilities of leading real estate developers in the country, such as Ayala Land, Brittany Corporation and Filinvest Land.

De Guzman contributes articles for Philippine Daily Inquirer on trends in property, architecture and urban development. He is the current chapter president of the UAP Fort Bonifacio Chapter, where he is involved in projects on social awareness and environmental concerns. He believes architecture is not limited to designing and building, but also encompasses total service, concern for nature and for fellowmen. He spent his formative years at the Ateneo de Manila and finished BS Architecture degree at the University of Santo Tomas. 

Values in Architectural Practice: Creating Wealth by Serving Others 
Abstract: The talk focuses on values within the architectural field when materialism abounds and many professionals are faced with temptations and motivated by the wrong reasons. Is it wealth, fame and glory that drive architects to practice architecture or is it the will to serve our fellow man? The concept of delayed gratification, learning, and serving, sharing and creating wealth is the central theme.
